Travel day

We left Port Angeles this morning and headed south towards Portland, OR.  Although it was a pretty drive around Olympic National Park and along the water there were not a lot of places we wanted to stop. We did take one detour out to Port Townsend on a peninsula at the entrance to Puget Sound to see a lighthouse.

We almost did not go because it was raining and it looked like more rain was on the way but once again we lucked out and the rain stopped just as we arrived at the lighthouse.
Next to the lighthouse was Fort Worden State Park, an old army post built in late 1800s.

Barracks

Officers quarters

Commanding officer's quarters
From there we drove to Woodland, WA just north of Portland, OR.

Yellowbush is everywhere

Our campsite is by the Columbia River and very nice.
