Last day in Yellowstone

Between cold, wet weather and being sick most of the week this has not been my best trip here but it is still an amazing place. Shannon had the day off so we headed for the Canyon area. The last segment of road over the mountains was supposed to open today but a new snow storm made snow tires mandatory meaning we had to reroute.

Look closely and you can see the snow falling

Finally made to Canyon area

By the time we got back to Gardiner temps were in the fifties

More critters

I wasn’t feeling well yesterday so I stayed in the RV all day. This morning I felt a little better so I took Shannon to work and drove around the park until about noon. It was a very cool morning with temps just above freezing and a few snow flakes.

Still lots of snow on the mountains

Snow day

The forecast called for snow showers in the morning and rain in the afternoon but I saw mostly snow on my way to the geyser basin.

Bear show

Shannon  and I drove into Yellowstone today. It was cold and windy but we had a good day. First Shannon showed me some of the equipment she uses in her job and then a bear sow and her cubs put on quite a show for us.

Mountain goats are common on this mountain but I thought they would be difficult to spot with all the snow but Shannon saw them right away
