Healy to Fairbanks Monday July 19th

Today was an easy travel day, only 113 miles from Healy to Fairbanks. The weather was the usual, 50 degrees and rainy when we left Healy, but by the time we got to Fairbanks it was partly cloudy and in the mid 60s. Feels good to leave the jacket off for a change. The scenery was nice but not spectacular, started out mostly woodlands and wetlands then eventually winding through some low mountains then down to the plains around Fairbanks.

We stopped at this neat little store along the way.

As we crossed the mountains we had a nice view of the Tanana river and could see smoke from a forest fire that has been burning for several days. Don't understand how it could keep burning with all the rain.

We spent the afternoon catching up on laundry, then we all went to the Elf's Den restaurant in North Pole, AK, then we went to Santa's House.

Yoda and Muskie got to visit Santa.

Forecast is for more rain the next several days but warmer.

  1. Whew! I was glad to see Yoda.... thought he had died or something (fell off a mountain?!)
What kind of a camera are you using. Your photos are so clear- absolutely beautiful. Also, everything looks so clean. Is it?

  2. We are using 2 cameras, a Canon EOS Rebel Xsi and a Nikon Coolpix P100 which we bought along the way after seeing pictures one of our fellow caravaners was getting.
For the most part it is very clean, not enough people to screw it up!
