Last Day at Skagway

Today was a free day in Skagway, nothing scheduled by the caravan group. Nancy did the laundry and I gassed up the truck and signed up for one day of internet service so I could catch up on the blog and email. After lunch we went into town for some shopping, checked out a couple of museums and hiked out to the old gold rush cemetery.
Along the way we passed the train yard.

This is the grave of Jeff “Soapy” Smith, the con man and thief who ran the city during the gold rush era in 1890s.
This is the grave of Frank Reid, he was the leader of a citizen's group that was trying to get rid of Soapy and his men. Frank and Soapy had a shoot out in which Soapy was killed instantly and Frank was mortally wounded and died 12 days later.

Here is a picture of a waterfall near the cemetery.

This is a picture of our campsite.

The weather today was cloudy and cool but no rain. Temp was in the 50's with wind.
Gas was $3.89/gal
Tomorrow we head back into Canada for a few days as we continue up the Alaska highway.

Yoda's thought for the day.
