Misery in Missouri

Today we drove from Danville,  MO to Nebraska City, NE.  We awoke to temps in the 40's and blowing rain.  Winds were very high all day, the rain lasted until noon which made for fun driving. Most of the day we were driving into a head wind so strong that I thought something was wrong with the truck because it stayed in 4th gear.  I finally realized it was because the wind was pushing so hard on the truck and trailer.  Our gas mileage dropped from 11 mpg to 6.5 mpg. We were using gas so fast I almost ran out, finally finding a station with only 1/2 gallon in the tank!
When we stopped for lunch we had no power in the trailer.  I checked the fuses, checked the batteries but could not find the problem.  I was putting the cover back on the batteries when I happened to notice that the ground wire to the trailer had pulled loose from it's connector.  We were parked at a Walmart so we looked for a connector there but could not find one large enough so we went to a Carquest store about a block away but they did not have one either but suggested a hardware store up the street where we found exactly what we needed.
Tonight we are in Victorian Acres RV Park in Nebraska City, NE.  It is a very nice park with lots of trees and a lake and the sun has finally come out and warmed it up some!
