Oregon or bust!

Headed to Oregon and Washington to cross off the last two states on my bucket list.  We almost delayed our departure because of weather as strong storms have been hitting Arkansas, LA, and MO the past two days.  The forecast for today showed a brief break in the storms along our route and that is exactly what happened.  Just as it looked like we were about to drive into heavy rain we stopped for lunch near Paducah, Ky and when we came out of the restaurant the storms had dissipated and we actually had very little rain. When I turned off the highway in Paducah the truck suddenly slowed down and we heard this terrible screeching and grinding noises.  I thought my transmission had gone out so I limped into the Cracker Barrel parking lot thinking the trip might be over.  Luckily it turned out that the emergency brake release on the trailer had been yanked loose so once I stuck it back in the slot everything was fine. Ended the day near Montgomery City, MO in the Kan-Do Kampground RV park.  Not a bad little park, just off the interstate with nice lots and lots of shade.  Gas was about $2.19 - $2.40/gal at most places today.  Interested to see what tomorrow brings as it has been snowing in parts of Nebraska for the last two days.  It was in the low 70's here and 30's there. Supposed to be in mid 50's there tomorrow so roads should be clear by the time we get there.
