Capitol Reef NP

We left Moab this morning and headed toward Bryce Canyon, along the way we drove through Capitol Reef National Park. It seemed like the terrain and the scenery completely changed every 30 miles all day.

Fall colors in the mountains.

At Capitol Reef the temperature was about 60 degrees then it started raining, as we left the park and drove up the mountains the temperature started dropping and got down to 41 degrees at the top.   It also got very foggy which made driving on the curvy mountain road nerve wracking.  After that we entered the Grand Staircase Escalante National monument and the scariest road I have ever been on.  The road was atop a very narrow ridge with very scary drop offs on both sides of the road and no guard rails and pouring rain. We eventually got to Bryce about 4:30pm and set up the camper in the pouring rain.
Hope the weather clears up tomorrow.
