Whitley Bay

Yesterday was another packing day but we did take the afternoon off to visit the museum where Megan interned.
Today we headed back to the coast to see the lighthouse at Whitley Bay.

Riding in the front of the train is cool

Very few rail crossings here, the tracks usually go under the streets in tunnels.

It's a phone booth, no it is a post office...
It's both!

Whitley Bay depot

First a quick walk through town.

And old seaside attraction that is being revitalized

Then came a long walk down the beach to the lighthouse

"Blimey, cold the water it is."

The lighthouse comes into view.

The lighthouse can only be accessed at low tide
At high tide this area is under water
 St. Mary's Lighthouse
 Sunning seals
Caravan (camper) park nearby
 Old tavern and inn

 Seal watching

Nancy and I climbed to the top
 Great view

Going down is a lot easier than going up
 Selfie

 Looking back up

 One last look
Even the lifeguards are in jackets. Temps were in the 60's but it was quite windy.
Old hotel
After lunch I headed back to Megan's for a nap while Megan and Nancy went shopping
