Back to the coast

We enjoyed Point Reyes so much the first visit we decided to go back.  First we drove to Muir Woods National Monument. The countryside is always interesting.

What are these cows finding to eat?

Huh?

Muir Woods has a lot of redwood trees.  Pictures simply cannot capture the magnificence of these towering titans.

Yoda is happy to stand on something older than he is.

Good thing we got to Muir Woods early.  By the time we left all the parking lots were full and people were parking 1/2 mile from the entrance along the highway.  After Muir Woods we drove up Highway 1 to Point Reyes. It was very foggy as we started up the coast.
There is an ocean down there somewhere

Hwy 1 has more curves than Dolly Parton!

Surf''s up
We eventually drove out of the fog around Stinson Beach.

Waves must have been 10 ft high

Back at Point Reyes National Seashore, we first went to find the elk herd.  We didn't have to look very long.

We also found a coyote lurking about

This inlet follows the San Andreas fault line.

Since the lighthouse was closed on our last visit we  went back to get a closer look.

One of my favorite views
Rocks below the lighthouse
We have to go way down there?

Now we have to climb back up
