Houston, AK to Denali

Another travel day, this time from Houston, AK to Healy, near Denali National Park.
It was 48 degrees when we left this morning but we had high hopes because the sun was shining and we thought we might get a glimpse of Mt. McKinley on the road. But the farther north we drove, the cloudier it got.

All we could see was woodlands and marshes for the first half of the 178 mile drive. We could not see any mountains till we got nearer Healy and the clouds parted somewhat.

After finding our campsite and setting up the camper, Nancy and I drove into Denali NP and went to the visitor's center and watched the movie, checked out the gift shop and drove as far as we could into the park. Private vehicles are only allowed 15 miles into the park, you have to ride a tour bus to go any farther into the park.

Mt. McKinley was still covered with clouds but maybe we will get to see it tomorrow.

Even though the sun came out this afternoon, the temperature stayed in low 50s and the wind picked up bringing more rain.

Forgot to mention that Yoda made a new friend on the cruise the other night.
