Last day in Dawson Creek

This was our last day of rest before starting the Alaska Hwy. We had a morning briefing to discuss general tour do's and dont's and tomorrow's schedule. Then we had a CB radio check to make sure everyone's radios are working. Nancy and I then went back into town to pick up a few more groceries and take a few photos.

They have painted murals on many of the buildings downtown depicting local history.

We visited a pioneer village much like Cannonsburg with many old buildings, vehicles and farm implements from the area.

Of course, Yoda, ham that he is insisted on being in some of the shots.
This afternoon a lady from the local tourist bureau gave an interesting presentation about the area history and the construction of the Alaska Hwy. The group then went to the Mile 0 marker for a group photo then to dinner.
Much warmer today. Started out in the 50's and rose into the mid 80's with mostly sunny skies.
Sunrise was at 4:30am and does not set until nearly 10pm. By tomorrow we will be in area with no real darkness at night unless it is cloudy. I still have not adjusted to the time change, we are in Pacific time zone now, and woke up at 4:30am this morning.
Anxious to get started tomorrow. Don't know how the internet service is going to be but will post again when I can.

  2. When I read this post last night (too tired) I thought you had already left DC, but I am thinking you are pulling out this morning (Thursday). We are slowing it down now, but will keep an eye out for you guys. We are being lazy this morning and it feels so good!
